A: Yes. Each participant is responsible for his or her own transportation to Charleston and to the venues each day. For our venues, see here. There are several transit options from the Charleston International Airport to downtown Charleston.
- Car rental and ride services (Uber, Lyft) are good options. Twelve miles separates the Charleston International Airport and the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel.
- Another option is the NASH (North Area Shuttle, see here), which costs $3 one way from Charleston International Airport to the Visitor Center in downtown Charleston. The XP4-NASH (which is the bus number you will want to take) leaves at the top of every hour (e.g. 12:01, 1:01, 2:01, and so forth, see schedule here), and brings passengers to the Downtown Visitor Center in about 30 minutes. Please take the XP4-NASH bus to the Downtown Visitor Center, which is on the corner of Meeting Street and John Street (map here). This Center is located three blocks from Mother Emanuel AME Church, and 8 blocks from the Belmond Charleston Place. With carry-on luggage, this walk is do-able (less than 15 minutes), but if weather conditions or other circumstances are at hand, then riding UBER from the airport might be a good option. Again, we recommend lodging at our recommended hotel (Belmond Charleston Place) or the Courtyard by Marriott located directly across from Mother Emanuel AME Church and within reasonable walking distance of the Belmond Charleston Place.
